Kocaeli Traffic Surveillance Building

   First of all, since the number of people working in the Uym Center increased from 15 to 30, this main area in the middle was designed.This area was first gradually raised to increase the viewing angles to the screens.Then new 5-person work desks were designed in accordance with these elevation landings. The echo and loud problem that would arise from the number of people was eliminated with acoustic design elements in the area. The most important of these acoustic elements was the acoustic baffles on the ceiling. This design was designed to create a sense of movement in contrast to the static people in this area and to support the movement on the screens.

    Office rooms and meeting rooms were generally chosen to be compatible in terms of color palette,but to set limits in terms of the materials used. This color palette, which varies between white and gray, was accompanied by turquoise, the color of the logo of this city, on the carrier system some doors and acoustic panels. In addition, in order not to further restrict the ceiling height, which is not 
too high in an area where 30 people will work, the ceiling panels were designed in partite at every point of the building, thus reducing the feeling of flatned.
     While this is the accepted design among the proposed designs in terms of ease of application and cost, the proposed design as Bea+ is shown on the below.

Second Design Proposal

In this design proposal the floor elevations in the previous design remained same in this design as well, and the related 5-person desk designs also remained constant. In this design, unlike the previous design, natural materials and the feeling of coldness were prioritized. While the bronze coatings accompanying the exposed concrete strengthened the brutal design, the acoustic baffles on the ceiling and the carpet on the floor was chosen to create a textural contrast to these. Partial ceiling acoustic panels were also used here in order not to make the ceiling, which is not very high in the main area, even lower. To accompany this gross design, the ceiling panels were designed static this time. The slope on the walls makes this area more embracing. It also prevented the sound echo by transmitting the sounds to the carpet on the floor or the panels on the ceiling.

Office rooms and meeting rooms were designed with materials with more texture to create a warmer atmosphere. Wood and fabric materials provided the atmosphere in these rooms in contrast to the UYM Center. While the color palettes changed between white and gray, similar to the previous design (this time white is more intense), the accompanying Instead of blue, the natural bronze color accompanied the white-gray palette this time. Although this design was the one recommended by BEA+, the longer construction time due to inclined walls and the fact that it was more costly than the previous design caused this design to be eliminated.

Kocaeli traffic control center was previously located in this area, but since a new team decided to be established here, a restoration and expansion work was requested to eliminate the insufficient space in the building. For this reason, the semi-open spaces in the fragmented structure of the building were included in the building, and new needs arising from this increase in function and the increase in the number of people working were placed in these areas.
